A snapshot into simpler times, with a varied and well stocked garden outside the fort walls. We actually ate lunch at a really quaint restaurant outside the fort, which was named the Grant House (after General Ulysses S. Grant, who was stationed there for a period of time). As the name implies, it really was just a house, that had been converted into a restaurant. Very pretty, and pretty good food. And affordable, to our California cost-of-living mindset.
